Current Green Projects:

South Farm Homes

Vermont Building Resources, formed as a company specializing in "green" or "sustainable" construction, has begun a project involving a 24 acre farm parcel in the southern Hinesburg village for which Reiss Building and Renovation will be the primary contracting company. This prime agricultural parcel was bought in partnership this summer by Vermont Building Resources and the Russell Family Farm to ensure a more sustainable future. The project sets aside 14 acres of the land for continued farming. The remaining land, containing homestead, barn, wetland and a portion of a southern facing slope will be developed by clustering six passive/active solar homes all certified by the Vermont Builds Greener (VBG) program. These homes will also be within walking distance to town and schools and have access to public hiking trails on the neighboring family farm.

NEWS:

South Farm Open House
October 6, 2007
12:00 noon - 4:00 pm

Buck Hill Road and Route 116 Hinesburg, VT

The open house in October provides an opportunity for potential home owners, community members and other interested parties to discuss the project underway. With this project we are hoping to create a prototype for more sustainable housing construction that promotes preservation of farmland, open space and provides an alternative for growth. We are excited about the opportunity to provide an alternative to sprawling development and look forward to the discussions initiated by the October open house.
